Fall Protection Systems on Track at Eurotunnel
In
line with Eurotunnel's stringent safety policy, operatives
carrying out routine maintenance and inspection of many roof
areas at the UK terminal, Folkestone, have been equipped with
the latest development in fall protection technology.
CSS Worksafe Ltd. have installed the new Uniline
Horizontal Lifeline system which was recently launched
on to the UK market. Unlike traditional systems, Uniline utilises
a synthetic fibre cable instead of steel wire to provide a
continuous anchorage point.
This system offers all the strength and durability of traditional
systems but has the major advantage of being able to span
up to 50m without intermediate support.
This unrivalled spanning capability greatly reduces the number
of fixings required, speeding installation time and reducing
the potential for leakage associated with roof penetration.
In the event of a fall arrest the unique operational properties
of the Uniline system minimise the load experience by the
user and provide a 'soft drop' eliminating dangerous bounce
and swing.
Uniline cable is available in a range of colours to match
building fabrics, and is supported by a range of non-penetrative
support bracketry to suit the majority of profiled roofing
systems.
The Eurotunnel contract was won in competitive tender and
is one of a number of prestigious projects on which the Uniline
system has been successfully specified.
CSS Worksafe Ltd. offer a full design and installation service
for full protection and safe access solutions as well as training
and hire of equipment. |
