RAIL SYSTEMS
Roofsafe™ and UniRail™ compliment the existing
range of cable based fall protection systems, by offering
safety professionals, building owners, designers and specifiers
well engineered , functional height safety solutions that
do not compromise aesthetics in modern building designs. As
well as complimenting building facades, the UniRail™
System also provides solutions to more specific safety issues,
such as where the ground clearance required to arrest a fall
is minimal.
The UniRail™ system is a rigid, extruded aluminium
rail system that provides an extremely aesthetically pleasing
and functional solution to modern fall protection problems.
The system provides a continuous attachment where a fall hazard
exists via a four wheel carriage. The system can be used as
a proactive restraining system for multiple users, as a fall
arrest system for two users and as an abseiling system for
such activities as window cleaning.
The modern UniRail™ system has been designed to facilitate
ease of installation and to allow for thermal expansion and
contraction during seasonal temperature variations. This is
achieved by way of anchorages that when fixed to a structure
allow the rail to float.
The UniRail™ system can be formed to accommodate changes
of gradient and direction in both axis of the rail extrusion,
facilitating changes in direction and ensuring continuous
attachment and total functionality.
Two types of rail fixing system are offered and specialist
fixing applications can be accommodated following consultation.
Concealed Fix - The
Concealed Fix System loses a little installation simplicity
to greater aesthetic appeal, The anchorages and joints of
the system can be fixed to the structure so that the fasteners
cannot be seen. The anchorages are fitted to the structure
before the rail is slid into position.
Slide
Fix - The Slide Fix System provides maximum
installation flexibility because the fasteners are left exposed.
This means that the anchorages can be slid onto the rail and
the whole rail section, including the anchorages can be offered
up to the structure, for marking, drilling and fixing. For
system maintenance and inspections, the fasteners remain exposed
enabling maintenance engineers to conduct pull out tests or
check that torque settings remain at the correct level.

Applications
The UniRail™ Systems can be used
to provide a safety solution for a wide variety of access
problems, such as window cleaning, vehicle access, gutter
cleaning and specialised access problems such as water treatment
tanks and other cylindrical vessels or structures. The UniRail™
System can also be used as a suspended access system.
The Roofsafe™ Rail System is the very latest in fall
protection technological development. The extruded aluminium
rail system can be retro-fitted to built up and composite
metal pitched roof systems and a variety of standing seam
roof systems, providing an aesthetically pleasing safety system.
Roofsafe™ can be used to facilitate roof inspections,
routine maintenance, gutter cleaning, access to roof plant
and any number of other roof top work procedures.
The Roofsafe™ System eliminates many common hazards
associated with cable based fall protection systems and other
roof mounted rail systems, including swing fall hazards, cable
fretting, cable tension, cable deflections and passing intermediate
cable supports. This makes Roofsafe™ an extremely safe,
extremely functional safety solution.
Key Features of the System include:
- Roofsafe™ is the only direct to roof rail system
that can facilitate changes in direction and roof slopes,
eliminating the need for messy looking swing fall posts,
anchor points and ropes.
- A patented Roofsafe™ Be-Lay System eliminates swing
fall hazards from the gable ends of roofs, whilst maintaining
complete user functionality and fall arrest capability for
hazards such as roof lights.
- A four wheel attachment carriage runs effortlessly along
the extruded aluminium rail, making the system extremely
user friendly.
- The lightweight modular rail system comes in 2.5mtr sections,
making it easy to transport and handle on site.
- Even load distribution through the fixing system ensures
complete safety in the event of a multi-user fall without
damaging the integrity of the roof system.

Components
Roofsafe™ for Built Up & Composite Roof
Systems
The system is fixed to the outer skin of the roof system
using aluminium bulb type rivets. The use of this type of
rivet in the correct sequence ensures safety without compromising
the integrity of the roof. The small penetrations are further
sealed using approved roofing products. Installation is quick,
easy and cost effective.
Roofsafe™ for Standing Seam Roof Systems
A range of non-penetrative clamps enables the system to be
fitted to a variety of standing seam roof systems.
An ongoing testing and verification program with major roofing
manufacturers continues to expand the range of clamps currently
available.
