Vertical Fall Protection Systems - Fall Arrest Systems for Ladders - EN 353-1 Guided Type Fall Arrestors on a Ridgid Anchorage Line
Vertical Fall Protection System Overview
These types of vertical fall arrest system have two primary components, a vertical track, rail or line and a travelling device that the user connects to that follows them as they climb and locks onto the line if they should fall.
These types of vertical fall arrest system provide a permanently installed solution that is ready for use whenever it is needed, negating the need to use twin tailed lanyards or a 'first man up' device to establish a means of fall protection before work can commence.
The guided type fall arrester or travelling device is removed from the system when not in use. Track or rail systems generally require that the travelling device is slid onto the system either at the bottom or top of the system and end stops fitted to ensure that the travelling device cannot accidentally run off the system. Special entry / exit gates can be built into these systems if the user needs to leave the system part way up the structure. Vertical fall arrest systems that utilise a wire rope have the advantage that the travelling device can be removed from and refitted to the system at any point.
CSS Worksafe offer vertical fall arrest systems that utilise tensioned wire rope, closed track or rigid profiled rail.
